Admit it,oftentimes you see yourself in a variety of different lights. More often than not,you feel that you do not really know yourself fully:what you really want, where you want to go and how you truly feel about yourself and the life you are living in now. This is fully understandable because times are forever changing and us along with it. This means that your tastes change, your ideas change and sometimes maybe even your beliefs change. That is why what you need to do is master yourself. You need to do this in order to get rid of the natural and instinctive self-sabotaging thoughts, feelings and acts that you do and have in your life.
In order to do so,you need to work hard at it. To master yourself is not something that you can just coast by;you need to put in the time, thought and effort so that you will be able to become successful in your endeavor. However, you do not need to be intimidated with the idea. You just need to keep in mind that though it might be hard it is incredibly worth it in the end.
You need to do is to make an assessment about yourself. This includes your ideals, beliefs, the things that you think are your good points and even the things that you think encompass your bad points. You really need to be honest to yourself, even if you might not like the things you will find out about yourself. Through this, you will be on the road to self-awareness. You can list down the things that you discover, making sure to jot down some ideas that you can use in order to correct your bad points. You also need to make a goal for yourself,as to what you want to achieve. A good idea is to put up the list of your good and bad points and your goal somewhere that you can see it easily. This makes it easier for you to meet your goal, which in this case is to master yourself.
You also need to have the determination and the self-control to succeed in this endeavor. Self control is a very good character trait to have and to develop. It is an integral part of who you are and has great influence in all the things that you do. The central element of self control is that deep inside it is the theory of delayed gratification. This means that you will need to work for something in order to receive a reward of sorts. It may mean that you will be giving up something today, but doing so will enable you to receive something that could be more important or better later on.
This might not be such an easy task to do but in the end,if you master yourself you will find it very worthwhile.
